Need a Little Pick Me Up? Read this

Sometimes I go through the motions, like many of you, where I just don't know what to do with myself. I go around moping, wishing my life was better or sometimes I just sit around binge-watching anime because it saves me from doing what I actually love doing.


But...where does that lead me at the end of the day? Another step further away from my goal.


So with today's post, I wanted to share with you some things that help me stay centered and connected to God, and in turn connected to what sparks the most joy for me in my life. These are tools you can use as well when you're feeling a little lost, or need a little pick me up!


1.Rest

Yeah I know, like, what? I get to nap all day sans judgment? Mmm, yes and no. You get to take a break from whatever is causing you stress or anxiety, and re-focus. If that means turning off your PC, putting your phone down and sitting in silence, or maybe even taking a nice little walk, take that time to rest. You cannot fully function on a body running on fumes. Trust me...it ain't cute


2. Watch something funny

According to Forbes, it has been proven that laughter helps boost endorphins AND even has similar effects to antidepressants! When I worked at my last toxic job (one day I'll stop comparing my worst days to this job, but that day ain't today) I would put stand-up comedy in my Bluetooth headphones and vibe out. Sometimes I'd listen to it on my way to work, so that I wouldn't feel as crappy going into the job.


My comedian of choice was always Dave Chappelle and John Mulaney, but there are many comedians out there that can help you bust a gut to get you feeling a little better.

3. Read inspirational blogs!

OK, hopefully mine is one of them, because I be trying y'all! There are a couple others I think you should read about as well. Arielle Estoria has a dope blog I love to read. She's a poet, singer, fashion guru, and she just sparks joy even when she's crying.

My second fave is Tamera Mowry-Housley's blog. She has written in a while, but her posts are timeless.


4. Wine Down (yeah, fool, WINE)

I love taking a bath, putting on some music, drinking a glass of wine, and lighting candles. Yo, I kid you NOT, you will feel like a whole new person after that bath. Skin will be like "thank you, FINALLY". If you're not into baths...get into it.


5.Last but not least, take a walk

Yeah, I said it. Sometimes you need to take a minute and go out and breaaaaaathe, chile. Nature is at your disposal, and you're probably not doing anything right now anyway, so why not? Go over to Grandmother Willow, sit beneath her leaves and stare at the sky. Don't be pulling on her hair though, that's disrespectful.
